She received her Bachelor's of Music in Piano Performance at the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she represented the school of music's grand opening of the Roxana Rozsa and Robert Eugene Lorton Performance Center on the local news station News on 6 in the fall of 2011. In 2015 she completed her Master of Arts in Music and Culture at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. A firm believer in a good pun, Alexandra uses humour in the studio and a "we" mentality to help students reach their full potential while creating an environment of approach-ability and safety. Joanne has been teaching piano and theory for 30 years and enjoys working with students of all ages. She has been classically trained, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from Trinity Western University and her MMus from Western Washington. Joanne’s goal for her students is to teach them the discipline of learning music and hopefully instilling in them a love for the process, so they can enjoy the art of making music for a lifetime. She uses games and music apps with her younger students to enhance their learning experience and engages with the older students by encouraging them to explore music that interests them, as well as preparing them for exams. As an International Opera/ Musical Theatre performer Megan has over 20 years of experience in the music industry. As a Music Teacher she has had 15 years experience with Voice, Introductory Piano and Music Theory. Megan received a Bachelors of Music from the University of Victoria in 2000 with an emphasis in Opera Performance. Megan has sung with Austrian Opera companies, sang the leading role Mimi in La Boheme as well as Cinderella in Into the Woods and performed throughout North America as a concert performer. Megan uses solid vocal technique to teach her students how to sing without harming their voices in all styles of music. Megan tailors each lesson to fit the individual and encourages them to grow, improve, uncover and empower the artist within. In piano Megan has experience teaching preschoolers and primary ages and enjoys finding new and creative ways to engage younger children in their music education. When not singing or teaching, Megan can be found canoeing and exploring nature with her husband and three young boys.

Miss Noelle is currently completing her Bachelor of Music degree in violin at UBC studying under Professor David Gillham. Spending her entire childhood dedicated to violin, piano, and harp, she has a passion for helping children discover a love and interest for the exciting wonders of music. She believes that each student is unique and adjusts her teaching style accordingly. She has her ARCT in harp performance along with her RCM Grade 10 in piano and violin. She has studied with Professor Taras Gabora, Martina Smazal, Elizabeth Volpe Bligh (harp), and Ann Shih taking from each of them unique perspectives on technique and performance. Throughout her career she has also participated in masterclasses from which she has had the opportunity to learn from Judy Loman, Sasha Boldachev, and Ann Yeung. Some of her accomplishments include performing in the opening Gala of the World Harp Congress in 2011, winning the VYSO’s concerto competition for violin in 2012, and travelling to Italy for the Caselmaggiore Music Festival where she performed in several concerts as a soloist and chamber musician. She looks forwards to taking her experiences and passing them on to her students.

Ony is a Canadian singer, songwriter. She was born in Moncton, New Brunswick into a musical household -- Ony grew up listening to country music and her mother was a big fan of R&B artists like Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, who have greatly influenced her music. Later on she studied in a professional Jazz music program in Montreal. She sang back vocals for Canadian soul singer and actress Michelle Sweeney, who performed with Celine Dion and Renee Lee. Ony was also a back vocalist for Akon’s hitlab. In 2010, she went on tour as a back vocalist for Bobby Bazini’s “Better in Time” tour who opened for Hedley and Our Lady Peace. She co-directed a youth choir Voices of Imani, which was the first Canadian choir to perform on BET’s Dr Bobby Jones Gospel special, alongside Gospel singers Kim Burell and Tye Tribbett. She teaches piano and voice with the goal to build confidence in your craft. Whether you are a beginner or looking for more advanced skills, Ony is trained in most styles of music and is capable of bringing your talent to the next level.

Tom is a jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader. He is a founding member of the much-loved musician-run venue Merge, where he helped present hundreds of performances by musicians from across the world. Tom has been awarded compositional residencies at arts institutions in the United States and has recently been commissioned to write and perform a score for the Little Chamber Music Society. Tom studied music in Iowa (University of Northern Iowa), San Francisco, Vancouver, and New York (Ben Monder, Lage Lund, Steve Cardenas). As a performer, Tom has a solo guitar project and leads two bands that have performed and recorded across the United States and Canada. Trying to be the teacher he never had when he was young, Tom strives to share the joy of learning music to students of all ages and all interests. Tom's classes will cover ear-training, sight-reading, improvisation, and composition through exploration and practice. His classes are perfect for students who are interested in jazz, rock, blues, fingerstyle, and for those who want to learn the foundations of the guitar.

He studied at the St. Louis Conservatory, and Indiana University, specializing in Baroque violin and pedagogy, specializing in teaching young children. He has done Suzuki teacher training with Sanford Reuning, William Starr, and Rosalind O’Keefe. Maxwell taught at the Capilano University Continuing Education Suzuki program for 8 years. He enjoys teaching violin and piano to students of all ages. Currently he is the first violinist of the Arietta String Quartet.

Blake first studied classical guitar, but as a young teenager discovered the electric guitar. Influenced by Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, Steve Vai and John Petrucci, Blake is one of the Vancouver guitar community’s most respected shred/rock guitarists. Although a lifelong rocker at heart, Blake later revisited his roots as a classical guitar player, studying at Douglas College with Michael Strutt. He expanded his musical horizons at Capilano College, where he studied jazz. Still, rock/metal remains his passion. Blake’s extensive teaching experience and musical knowledge has made him popular with ambitious students, while his easygoing personality appeals to beginners. He is equally at home teaching blistering shred solos or the latest meme song. Above all, Blake’s goal is to help facilitate a lifelong enjoyment of music. Blake is often seen playing around Vancouver with his progressive rock band OmnisighT.

Bradley is a current student of Music and Education at Trinity Western University. His primary instruments are trumpet and voice which he has also been teaching since 2016. He is grateful to have been taught by such marvelous trumpet players as Henry Christian and Tom Shorthouse as well as the magnificent soprano, Alison Nystrom. He equally values his experience teaching cadets at the HMCS Quadra Cadet Training Centre in Comox, BC. Recently in 2019, he led a student choir while studying at a Bible School in Costa Rica.  In his degree, Bradley has likewise studied music theory, composition, piano, and digital recording methods; so, he also enjoys helping students in these areas of music. Possibly his greatest asset when it comes to teaching is having over six years of experience working as a cabin leader each summer and a kid’s program leader during the year. He seeks first to understand a student’s wants and needs and then finds the best way to teach accordingly.

Dean is a highly sought-after musician and educator, firstly for his skill as a master trumpet player, and secondly as a teacher of all brass instruments, as well as saxophone and clarinet. He is experienced in diverse number of musical styles and is known for his ability to ground his students in a solid technical base. He communicates effectively with all age groups and is at ease running an efficient, yet fair rehearsal environment. Dean has played for many ensembles and theatres throughout Canada, the United States and Hungary.  As a solo performer, Dean is known for having a strong, pure tone and an exceptionally broad range – a trait necessary for big band lead playing. He is also known as a proficient piccolo trumpet player and is a lover of baroque and classical music. While doing his undergraduate work at Western Washington University. Dean toured Hungary as a trumpet soloist and ensemble member of their Collegium Musicum, playing works by Bach, Scarlatti, and Michael Haydn. Dean is an avid canoeist, and lover of the outdoors. He also has a great interest in nutrition and its relation to overall health. He lives with his wife, his son and his unusually large and yellow Labrador retriever, Hunter.

She’s been teaching violin and piano for 30 years, She enjoys teaching very much and always looks forward to seeing and teaching her students. In addition to English, she can also teach lessons in Greek. Her student ages have varied from age 3 to 82 Years old and she loves students of all ages. Never too old to learn she says! She’s been concert mistress in multiple orchestras throughout Canada and the US, including playing for Bramwell Tovey, Wayne Gretzky and the late John Candy.

Jeffery completed his Bachelor of Music in Viola performance under the guidance of Neil Miskey and David Harding at University of British Columbia; Master of Music in Viola Performance with Steven Dann at McGill University. Additionally, he has his ARCT Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, and has won numerous awards from festivals and competitions, including a medallion for outstanding Performance in Piano at the Kiwanis Fraser Valley International Music Festival. Jeffery is experienced as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. In 2015 and 2019, he has toured with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYOC), performing chamber music and orchestral concerts across Canada and Europe. Additionally during the Spain tour in 2019, he has held leadership positions as a principle violist and assistant principle violist. In 2015 and 2018, his string trio and quartet were selected as a finalist to perform in the Friends of Chamber Music Competition concerts. Jeffery is fluent in both English and Mandarin and has been teaching piano, violin, viola, and music theory for several years. Not only he is passionate about teaching music, but also he is very eager to share his knowledge with his students.

Joe started playing music in elementary school with his introduction to the ukulele, violin and choir. In high school he started performing with the symphonic and jazz bands and got to learn a handful of instruments including: percussion, saxophone, clarinet, and guitar. It was his love of singing that led to many vocal lessons and performances and ultimately led him into the York University music program. With his bachelor of music in hand Joe set off to write and play in many rock and pop groups. His love of singing led to many opportunities in musical theatre as well. Joe brings his varied background of performing, writing and acting to his teaching studio. He is happy to help young singers find their voice in a variety of genres from metal to pop to theatre. He also enjoys teaching guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and piano to those students wanting to learn the fundamentals of music in a fun way.

Joel began his musical career by learning the saxophone at the age of 13. He studied
Jazz Studies at Capilano University, majoring in saxophone from 2005 to 2009. Joel has
been teaching music for 11 years and has worked in many different schools around
Vancouver and the Lower Mainland specializing in Saxophone, guitar / ukulele,
woodwinds, one on one and group lessons, rock bands, concert bands, and developed
and leads 10 week music programs for elementary schools. Currently Joel is the Band
Director at Sir William Osler Elementary and just finished leading a 10 week music
program at Simon Fraser Elementary School from K - 7.
For 5 years Joel was the Music Specialist at Lions Gate Montessori. By having a strong
understanding of the Montessori Pedagogy and Principals: Joel recognizes the
importance of connecting with children at their skill level. Joel understands every
student learns differently and is able to adapt his teaching style to match the student's
path of development. Joel encourages and supports students to follow that curious
spark and discover their musical voice.

She began her musical career with the Canadian military, making her debut on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill as a musician in the daily changing of the guard ceremony. Since then she has had the opportunity to play for a wide variety of ensembles across North America and Europe. An enthusiastic teacher, Krystal has taught at music schools throughout Canada, from conservatories to Cadet Camps. Also a certified Alexander Technique teacher, Krystal has worked with musicians, actors and dancers to help them find ease in movement and bring new energy to their craft. Krystal teaches lessons on clarinet, saxophone and piano.

Michael is a pianist, composer and educator. He recently graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano Performance as well as a Bachelor of Science in Honours Math and Physics. At McGill, Michael composed for the Chamber Jazz Ensemble, represented McGill performing at the Four Seasons Centre for Performing Arts in Toronto in a quintet alongside Professor Kevin Dean, and was awarded the Calder Spanier prize for composition. Michael performs and composes professionally in a wide variety of genres including jazz, rock, R&B, pop, and hip hop. As an educator Michael has six years of experience teaching jazz, classical and pop piano lessons. He also has experience tutoring kids and adults in math and science. His goal as a teacher is to instill a love of music in the student and provide them with a strong foundation of musicianship. Michael makes lessons fun by playing pedagogical games with the student and teaching some relatable pop repertoire to form a connection between what the student may listen to at home and what they play at the piano. This is balanced with a stricter focus on technique, ear training, reading, and theory. With this balanced approach Michael strives to share his passion for music with his students and equip them with skills for both music and life!

Musique de Montréal. She was a finalist in Montreal's ''Bourse Kaléidoscope'' competition as well as a
prizewinner in the Maison de la Musique de Sorel-Tracy Competition's under 25 category. Polina
performs in both solo and collaborative settings, most recently accompanying opera singers in opera
productions and art song recitals. Her accompaniment of the Halifax Summer Opera Festival’s 2015
production of Massenet’s Cendrillon was described as ‘outstanding’ by Opera Canada Magazine. Polina
often performs outside of traditional concert venues - she holds a monthly residency at Montreal's Bar
Bily Kun - Soirée Classique, where she performs solo piano works, and in the summer of 2019 was
invited to perform in several outdoor concert series in Montreal, including CAPP Montreal’s Apéro Piano
series at Place Genevilliers-Laliberté. Polina released her first recording, featuring solo and voice-piano
duo works by Robert Schumann, in the spring of 2018. The recording features a collaboration with
soprano Kimberley Lynch and was featured on Montreal’s Radio Classique radio station as part of the
program, ''La Plage Musicale''. Previously on staff as a pianist at both the Lachine International Vocal
Academy and the Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, Polina continued her work as a vocal accompanist this
summer as a repetiteur at the AIMS in Graz festival in Austria. She has been a recipient of grants from
the Canada Council for the Arts (for her 2017 participation in the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar) as well as
Montreal’s ''Bourse Jeunes Volontaires''. Polina’s varied musical interests allow her to enjoy a wide
range of professional experiences while building an eclectic body of solo and collaborative répertoire.

Sarah C

Piano (ages 5+),   Violin (ages 5+),   Flute (ages 9+)
Sarah loved music from an early age and began to learn the recorder aged 3 in England, where she grew up. She played in various bands and orchestras, often with leading positions throughout grades 1-12 and gained grade VIII (equivalent RCM level 10) in both the flute and violin. Aged 16, she attended the world renowned Chetham’s School of Music for 2 years and was awarded a piano diploma (equivalent ARCM) with the London College of Music, before studying for her BMus Honours degree at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Whilst studying at the Guildhall, she began teaching in her spare time and found that she loved it! Upon graduating in 2009, she pursued her career as a music teacher and has never looked back. Sarah tailors lessons to student’s strengths and personal goals, whilst ensuring that students meet attainment goals for their age and experience. Sarah herself gets bored easily (!) so tries to make lessons as varied as possible, using interactive games, backing tracks and making sure that the turnaround on pieces isn’t too long.

Tristan C

Tristan began his post-secondary music education at Capilano University where he obtained diplomas in piano, voice and conducting. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from University of Victoria, where he received the Bea Scott Voice Scholarship in 2014. He was also the recipient of the City of White Rock Award for Music in 2010. Aside from his vocal studies, Tristan is an accomplished pianist, organist and guitarist, having received instruction in classical and jazz at both universities. He has sung with several highly acclaimed vocal ensembles such as Laudate Singers, Vox Humana, and more recently the Vancouver Opera Chorus. Furthermore, Tristan has been actively teaching and performing for many years, having appeared as a tenor soloist with the UVic Orchestra and Chorus, UVic Chamber Singers, and the Vancouver Bach Choir.

Winnie D

Piano (ages 5+)
Winnie D Winnie is a piano teacher with almost 30 years of teaching experience. Trained with the ABRSM system (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London), she has a Licentiate Teaching Diploma (LTCL) from the Trinity College of Music (London). Over the past years she has trained many students for the ABRSM exams, (RCM) Royal Conservatory exams, the Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festival. Winnie teaches classical, theory, technique, Harmony (RCM 9/10), History (RCM 9/10). Some of her students have received outstanding results and have received awards and scholarships and had pursued a career in music. Winnie loves getting to teach what she is most passionate about and her mission is to guide students to enjoy, discover and to increase their knowledge in music. As a teacher she strives to be kind, patient, creative, imaginative and is committed to having each student excel in their best possible way, whether for an exam, recital or for personal knowledge and enjoyment.

Zabeth B

Piano (ages 5+)

Zabeth received her ARCT in Piano Performance from The Royal Conservatory of Music. She has studied with UBC professor Alice Enns, renowned piano performer Dietmar Schmeuker and late composer Walter Bresch. Zabeth has performed with members of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and UBC Orchestra. She has provided adjudications for local and international music competitions. Zabeth has 33 years of teaching experience with beginner through advanced students. She teaches all beginner programs as well as Royal Conservatory and Conservatory Canada. Two very popular programs she provides are learning to play by ear and jazz improvisation. Zabeth is also a theory teacher and can assist you with all the prerequisites including History and Harmony of Music, Analysis and Counterpoint. Lessons are student focussed and tailored to the needs of each student. Zabeth creates an encouraging learning atmosphere regardless of your skill level. Students will be instilled with a deep love of music and in depth knowledge and skills in their chosen program.
